It is a four-pole circuit breaker, which means that it can protect a three-phase electrical circuit. The circuit breaker is equipped with a thermal element that responds to overload conditions and a magnetic element that responds to short circuit conditions. The thermal element is made of a bimetallic strip that bends when it is exposed to heat. When the bimetallic strip bends enough, it trips the circuit breaker. The magnetic element is a solenoid that is energized when a short circuit occurs. When the solenoid is energized, it trips the circuit breaker.
